Join Us for America’s New Year Celebration at the 105th Rose Bowl Game and Tournament of Roses Parade
The countdown is on and the “Granddaddy of Them All” is almost here, making now the perfect time to prepare for your visit to Rose Bowl Stadium!
New York City and Times Square have their annual New Year’s Eve “ball drop”. But when the morning comes, the nation’s attention annually switches coasts to ring in the New Year in Golden State style! For nearly 130 years, a dynamic duo of events, produced by the Tournament of Roses, has made Pasadena the place to be on January 1st, and 2019 is no exception.
Tournament of Roses Parade
Is it a long-standing tradition in your household to get up early and watch this annual parade on New Year’s Day? You’re not alone, as millions tune in annually to see this impressive spectacle of florally-inspired floats. Originally named “The Battle of the Flowers”, 2019’s event will showcase the traditional floats, marching bands, and equestrian units as they make their way down the celebrated 5 ½ mile stretch of Colorado Boulevard, celebrating this year’s theme, "The Melody of Life"! True to form, the theme complements the parade’s chosen Grand Marshal – the “Queen of Funk”, Chaka Khan!
105th Rose Bowl Game
Once the last note rings out from the petal parade, all eyes turn to the Rose Bowl Stadium! Now a member of the New Year’s Six, the 105th Rose Bowl Game will showcase two of the nation’s top college football teams when the #6-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, champions of the Big Ten, take on the #9-ranked Washington Huskies, champions of the Pac-12. Even if the nation’s oldest Bowl Game is not a part of the College Football Playoff this year, the “Granddaddy of Them All” is always a bucket-list worthy sporting event!
Coming to the area for New Year’s Day? No matter if you’re local or flying in through the nearby Hollywood Burbank Airport, book your stay at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, and enjoy the perfect home base for all of your Rose Bowl celebrations!
