It’s the “End of an Era” as the final Los Angeles Salsa Festival/Congress is set to take place this May at the Burbank Convention Center.
It’s the end of an era. After 20 years, a new generation and demographic has emerged and is taking salsa dance into the 21st Century! With these changes come hard goodbyes and this May at the Burbank Convention Center, it’s time for one of the most bittersweet for lovers of salsa dancing across the globe! The 21st Annual Los Angeles Salsa Festival/Congress will be the last.
The longest-running salsa congress in the US will take its last dance over the course of three days, Friday, May 24 through Sunday, May 26. Founded by the late pioneer in salsa, Albert Torres, the festival has always united lovers of this Latin style of dance from all over the world, showcasing the best live bands, dancers and instructors of the time. As dance becomes more “social” and less driven by the live musical performances were which once at the core, the remaining founders have decided to end the festival by going out with a true celebratory bang!
Highlighting “The Best of The West”, the festival will be comprised of the traditional workshops, dance parties, and live entertainment all highlighting talent from the L.A. scene. The centerpiece of the festival this year will comprise of an “epic” 72 hour social dance party, ensuring that the action won’t stop until the waning hours on Monday morning!
Singular events during the festival are already selling out, but passes for the full three-day dance party remain.
