From King Kong to Harry Potter, movies come to life at Universal Studios Hollywood every day!
Although Universal Studios Hollywood has been “The Entertainment Capital of LA” since 1912, when the theme park opened in 1964, it brought movies to life in a totally new way. Now 54 years later, this institution in Universal City is as popular as ever, thanks to new attractions always popping up behind their gates. While the just announced The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash! attraction will not be open to the public until 2020, here are three reasons you should be sure to check out the park now in 2019:
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Being such a beloved franchise, there was no way all of the magic could be contained to one attraction. Thus, in 2016, an entire themed area of the park was created to honor the film series and all of its iconic characters. From rides such as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogrif to special eateries and shops where Chocolate Frogs and magic wands are available for purchase, every pure-blood, half-blood, muggle-born, or squib will have an unforgettable trip through this wizarding world.
King Kong 360 3-D. They don’t get much larger than this attraction that opened as part of the Studio Tour in 2010. Taking guests to a recreated version of Skull Island from the 2005 film, King Kong, be prepared to witness a mighty brawl between the King of Apes and a pack of Venatosaurus. Being caught in the middle of such an epic throw-down is made all the more scream-inducing by the immersive HD 3-D imagery that surrounds your tram car on two 200-foot wide screens!
Jurassic World – The Ride. The wait is almost over! In just a few weeks, the major retheming of the original Jurassic Park: The Ride will open to the public as an all-new Jurassic World attraction. “More real. More intense.” is not just a tagline as your favorite actors from the new Jurassic World franchise will be on hand to guide you through the attraction and your encounters with both the docile and the extremely predatory dinosaurs from the films. And get ready to get wet as the 84-foot waterfall drop that ends this anticipated attraction is sure to cause a splash!
