With Thanksgiving being so late this year, Six Flag Magic Mountain is extending its annual holiday event to 44 nights until January 5, 2020!
Halloween and all of its haunts have passed and with it go the tricks… but not the treats! The winter holiday season is right around the corner and with it heralds in a newer annual favorite event at the beloved Los Angeles theme park. Move over Fright Fest and say hello to Six Flags Holiday in the Park! Beginning on Saturday, November 23, 2019, and running for 44 nights through Sunday, January 5, 2020, the days and hours that Six Flags Magic Mountain is open to visitors is extended with this special festive side of the park kicking off at 5:00 PM each night with a special snowfall!
The rare sight of flurries falling from the sky is not the only treat that Holiday in the Park brings. Now in its sixth year, more than 2 million lights and seven different themed areas will light up the park to get revelers in the spirit of the season. This also includes the park bringing back the fan-favorite “Taste of the Holidays” food festival for two weeks (from December 14 – 29) during the extended run. The hours of operation vary between three different durations, the longest being 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturdays and the week of the Christmas holiday.
This year, the Holiday in the Park themed areas will include:
Merry Lane – Twinkling lights that are synchronized to holiday music and 30-foot walk-through ornaments await, but the true pièce de résistance for many guests is roasting marshmallows over an open fire. (Sorry, but due to the warm LA weather, Jack Frost nipping at your nose is not included).
Santa’s Cottage – What holiday-themed event would be complete without the Man in the Red Suit? Along with Mrs. Claus and the elves, enjoy making crafts and visiting Santa at his home up until December 24!
Gleampunk District: A Steampunk Holiday Experience – The largest themed area in the park, you will be transported back to the 19th century with all of the sights and sounds of the Industrial Revolution, all illuminated by thousands of lights. The center of this area is the Gearworks Theater, whose façade will be streaming a video adventure showcasing the happenings inside of the Steampunk Candy and Toy Factory. Don’t forget to get your selfie in the one-of-a-kind steampunk sleigh!
Rockin’ Universe – This is where the DC UNIVERSE comes to life, featuring three light shows that are each synchronized to contemporary holiday music. Being one of the largest light shows along the entire West Coast, each five-minute event includes tens of thousands of lights, with each viewing just as captivating as the last.
With all of the illumination that abounds, to get the most out of all the Holiday in the Park festivities, guests are advised to stay later to see the light shows and displays in all of their glory!
