Unleash Your “Beautiful Grit” on the Dance Floor at the BellaMoxi Convention

The 2018-2019 “Frame Your Focus” Tour is coming to the Burbank Convention Center this April!

BellaMoxi = beautiful grit. - It is a term that the founders of this innovative dance convention coined to describe their fledgling creation. Now in its fourth year, the BellaMoxi Convention is making its way across the country spreading its core message of helping dancers in all disciplines and skill levels illuminate their passion while providing opportunities to continue pursuing their dream career.

BellaMoxi ConventionConvention and Competition - Season IV of the BellaMoxi Convention, entitled “Frame Your Focus” is coming to our very own Burbank Convention Center on Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28. As the previous three seasons have shown, what makes this dance convention so unique is that it seeks to expose dancers to what it truly takes to have a successful career as a dancer!

Commercial and Concert Dance - All are welcome to show off their passion for a specific style (from ballet and hip hop to musical theater), but more of an emphasis is put on training well-rounded dancers – the key to being a successful working dancer. Every weekend stop on the tour ends with thousands of scholarship dollars being awarded to the winners of a variety of competitions.

Choreographic Festival - A staple of the event, this innovative celebration showcases the talents of budding choreographers in hopes of inspiring future generations to “find their own voice through movement”! Just like the dancers and their competitions, the Choreographic Festival also involves cash prizes for the stand-out dance makers!

So, you think you can dance? Be sure to book your stay with us at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel and take advantage of our convenient location adjacent to the Burbank Convention Center. Get ready to enjoy exhilarating days at BellaMoxi, then come back, kick off your dancing shoes, and relax in the comfort and style of our accommodations.

It’s Back! The Second Annual LA Shag Festival 2019 Returns in April!

Join us at the Burbank Convention Center and learn why “it don’t mean a thing, if you ain’t got that swing!”

Shag dancing was brought to Burbank last year with the inaugural edition of this event. Surprisingly, for a first run event, the two-day affair drew in over 500 attendees who just couldn’t wait to get down and swing! Founded by two of the area’s top modern day shag dancers, this festival sought to bring their passion and innovative techniques on this retro dance style to the masses. This year, both Stephen Sayer and Chandrae Roettig have gathered more of their professional friends to swing back into the scene with LA Shag Festival 2019 on April 12 – 14. This festival at the Burbank Convention Center promises to be even bigger and better than last year!

There are two major facets to this festival – the Nightly Parties and Daily Workshops!

LA Shag FestivalNightly Parties – 3 nights of “taster classes” in a variety of different types of shag. From Friday night’s “Collegiate Shag Taster”to Sunday night’s “The Madison Taster”, you’ll be able to pick up the subtle (and not so subtle) differences while being instructed by the pros! Each night consists of contests in a variety of shag categories and late night DJ dancing parties. And when we say “late night”, if last year was any indication, the sun will be rising and dancers will still be swinging!

Daily Workshop – The true heart and soul of this event is the two days (Saturday/Sunday) of workshops, broken down in different skill levels so you’ll never feel out of place. Last year, there was only one style offered – Shag! That, of course, returns with four different levels broken into three sessions each day (from beginner to advanced). New for 2019, the instructors will be providing workshops for a second style – L.A. Style Lindy Hop (with two skill levels and two sessions each).

Ready to swing your heart out at the LA Shag Festival 2019? Book your stay with us at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, the host venue for this event. Our hotel offers guests a variety of upscale accommodations and amenties, perfect for kicking back and resting those dancing feet after a full day of swinging at the adjacent Burbank Convention Center.

The All-New Synthplex Expo Is Almost Here!

The inaugural edition of this highly-anticipated synth technology expo is taking place at our Burbank Convention Center this March!

Affectionately called “Synthapalooza” by its founders, the Synthplex Expo is almost here! Taking place at our Burbank Convention Center on Thursday, March 28 through Sunday, March 31, this festival, simply put, revolves around “all-things-synthesizer”. Part genre, part instrument, it would be hard to classify Synthplex as a standard convention, as there is so much in store for all who decide to attend.

Synthplex ExpoCreated by two life-long synthesizer enthusiasts, Michael Learmouth and Michael Lehmann Boddicker, this four-day expo will feature:

Educational and Technology Seminars.  Be sure to catch the Electronic Music History Seminar!

Masters’ Sessions with Industry Legends.  Even though the performances may be the most attended, the Question and Answer panels will give you the most insight into the genre and techniques from the musicians who play them.

Trade Show Exhibits. Showing off the latest technology that you can try out and then buy!

Hands-On Workshops.  For the true DIYers – build your own synth equipment!

Live Performances.  Over 20+ performances are planned throughout the four days!

Pop-Up Synth Museum.  A whole collection of synthesizers will be on display for you to experience hands-on.

Even if you don’t know a Moog Modular from a Mellotron, all music lovers will find something to enjoy at this first of its kind event.  To fully complement your experience, be sure to book a room with us at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel.  We look forward to making magic musical memories with you soon!

The Ultimate Tinseltown Experience – Hollywood Studio Tours

Experience La La Land like never before by taking one (or all) of these exclusive Hollywood Studio Tours!

As we’re currently entrenched in “Movie Awards Season”, now is the perfect time to consider taking a behind-the-scenes look at where all of the magic you see on screen happens. Yet for a slight refresher course, here are the basics:

Hollywood Studio ToursWarner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood – Get a glimpse at a true backstage studio experience. Iconic landmarks will be recognizable to any film fan, such as the iconic WB water tower, and the exhibits cater to fans of some of the most popular franchises in contemporary cinema (Batman and many other DC Superheroes and Harry Potter) You may even get a chance to see the set for the last season of The Big Bang Theory!

Paramount Studio Tour – With over a hundred years of history behind the walls of this studio, there’s a lot to see! While you will get a true intimate experience on the backlot of a working studio, that history is also on full display when you explore the new “Tour Center” and “Prop Warehouse” along with longstanding iconic filming locations that have always made up the bulk of the tour.

Sony Pictures Studio Tour – Very similar to its “Paramount” counterpart, this backstage experience is on a fully functioning studio. Yet this time, instead of catching a glimpse of the actors on the set of “This Is Us” or “NCIS”, you may spot the team of “The Goldbergs” or even Pat Sajak on his way to tape “Wheel of Fortune”!

After your trip through the magic of the movies, you’ll want a comfortable place to come back to your life “behind-the-scenes”. Book your room with us at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, conveniently located near all three iconic Hollywood landmarks.
