Giving Back Show: A Supernatural Official Convention

The Burbank Convention Center is about to get a dose of all things scary, sexy, and Supernatural!!!

Sometimes life seems… “Supernatural”! One time when we can say for certain that this otherworldly feeling will invade the Burbank area is during this October’s Supernatural Official Convention. This “Giving Back Show” is a two-day extravaganza, with a variety of activities and events for fans of the hit American television series, taking place at the Burbank Convention Center on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20. Since 2005, brothers Sam and Dean Winchester have captivated fans and captured hearts across the globe and this Giving Back convention is the perfect chance to show your love for the beloved series that is set to conclude in Spring 2020.

A Supernatural Official ConventionAs with all conventions sponsored by Creation Entertainment, this show will be an engaging experience that allows likeminded SPNFamily members to enjoy a full weekend of fun and entertainment. This year in Burbank, the show will include the likes of Ruth Connell, Alexander Calvert, to the ever-popular, fan-favorite Misha Collins… or should we say Castiel? Either way, the amount of participants from all of the fifteen seasons is staggering and their involvement spans the full course of both days. There are a variety of events from daytime live panels and photo-ops to nighttime special, extremely limited encounters. These can range from a dinner out with David Haydn-Jones to a Pajama Party with your favorite Wayward Sisters, Kim Rhodes and Briana Buckmaster. Be sure to consult the full schedule for all of the details on each and every interactive event that you can be a part of.

And while you’re there, be sure to check out who is the host of this Supernatural extravaganza. That’s right, the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel and our Burbank Convention Center have the honor of being not only the site for the event, but the host hotel! Besides being the most convenient (and comfortable) place to make your home for the weekend, as the Hollywood Burbank Airport is also right next-door for those flying in for the event, as the official host, we’re offering a special group rate! This is “one hell of a time for a family reunion” and we hope to see you there!

Thrills Abound at Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights!

No one’s too old to enjoy Halloween-inspired festivities, especially when it’s being put on by Universal Studios Hollywood!

Not only does Universal Studios Hollywood start celebrating the second most popular holiday in our country a month early, they continue to add more tricks and treats each and every year based on the newest films and pop culture phenomena. Opening with a Fan Preview Night on September 12, Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights is one of the area’s most popular destinations for some terror-ific family-fun!

Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror NightsWell… maybe not the whole family!

Parental discretion is advised but the park recommends that children under the age of 13 may find Halloween Horror Nights too intense. The reason for the caution – the event transforms Universal Studios Hollywood into the city’s most terrifying Halloween experience, including walk-through maze attractions, intense scare zones, terrifying live shows, and of course, the extreme rides and attractions you have come to love at the park throughout the years! This year, they have added even more mazes bringing the total up to 10. Each one takes on a different theme including Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, Ghostbusters, AMC’s The Walking Dead Attraction, Stranger Things, and many more that have yet to be announced. There are 5 new scare zones and an all-new live show featuring the famous dance crew, the Jabbawockeez.

Halloween is no longer one day a year!

Starting with the first-ever Fan Preview night, the event runs on select nights from Friday, September 13 through Sunday, November 3. Another new addition this year is the weekly 80’s Throwback Thursdays. All of the same thrills will be on display but with an added 80’s spin including live bands and DJ dance parties. No matter which night you choose, these rain-or-shine events begin at 7:00PM. And even though you may be tempted, no costumes are allowed!

To enjoy the best discounts and shorter wait times for the attractions, think of planning to attend in September. And be sure to truly perfect this experience by booking a stay with us at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel. Conveniently located 5 miles away from Universal Studios Hollywood, we’ll ensure that your night of Halloween Horror is not a trick, but a truly memorable treat!

Three Reasons to Check Out the Burbank International Film Festival

One of the most prestigious film festivals in Burbank will be returning to the area on September 4, 2019.

Burbank International Film Festival

Now in its 11th year, the Burbank International Film Festival (BIFF) is set to return to the Media Capital of the World in September. This five-day film festival will be screening more than 180 short films and features that represent 60 countries across the globe. The festival is juried and offers over 20 awards in a variety of categories from “Best Feature Film” and “Short Film By Women” to personal honors such as “Best Actor” and “Feature Film Scoring/Composing”. Yet why should you want to check out one of the most celebrated film festivals in Burbank?

Promotes Independent Filmmaking.  Before they became household names, Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan were independent filmmakers. The BIFF mission is to promote those filmmakers that have yet to get their big break and are just emerging on the scene. By distributing these unknown works to a larger public, the stars of tomorrow have a chance to shine and take a step toward Tarentino status.

New Category: LGBTQ Inclusive Short Film.  Promoting equality in the entertainment field, this new category is meant to inspire the next generation of filmmakers to fully embrace and promote the celebration of LGBTQ stories and themes on screen.

Closing Night Dinner & Gala Awards Show.  On Sunday, September 9th, the film festival comes to a close with the ‘Closing Night’ festivities. Starting with a Cocktail Reception (5:30) that leads into the Three-Course Dinner and Awards Show (6:30PM), this is the night where the BIFF truly shines, acknowledging the films that made the biggest impact and will earn top honors in their respective categories. The Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel is honored to be the host for all of these ‘Closing Night’ festivities and looks forward to helping spotlight the tomorrow’s stars of the film industry today.

If you’re planning a visit to the Los Angeles area for BIFF, receive true superstar treatment by booking a stay with us at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel.
